Boys & Girls Club Partners with Youth Community Coalition
Boys & Girls Club of the Columbia Area has partnered with the Youth Community Coalition (YC2) for the 21st Century Community Learning Project. Through the Community Learning Project YC2 aims to reduce risk factors associated with poor academic performance, including attendance, behavior, and homework completion. The program will place an Afterschool Coordinator within the Columbia Public School District to facilitate communication between schools and program staff at afterschool programs. Other partners include Columbia Public School District, CHA Low-Income Services, University Y, University of Missouri Institute of Public Policy, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters and will operate in four Columbia afterschool programs: Boys & Girls Club of the Columbia Area, Moving Ahead, The Intersection, and Fun City. The 21st Century Community Learning Project is a 5-year renewable grant that will provide 4 full-time and 9 part-time positions to assist in the project as well as staff training and supplies.
