On Friday May 11th we hosted our end of the year party to celebrate all the successes from the last school year at the new Youth Development Center. Although construction of the Youth Development Center is still underway, the new playground was ready to go! Veteran’s United Home Loans and Heart of Missouri United way were there to see the kids play on the new playground for the first time. Also, Century 21 lent us their bounce house once again. Check out this awesome video put together by Club volunteer, Jose. He is a student in the University of Missouri Nursing School, and Jose organized the entire event as part of our celebration of National Boys & Girls Club Week. Wow!

We are beginning to develop our quarterly digital newsletter, The Club Beat, for 2nd Quarter 2012. If you are interested in being added to our distribution list, then just send us a message to our Facebook page’s inbox with your name and email address, and we will make sure to include you! The newsletter will be distributed shortly after Memorial Day.

Today, University of Missouri head men’s basketball coach, Frank Haith, came to the Teen Center to present a check for $10,000 to the Club from the Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge. He also got a chance to see the construction progress on the new Youth Development Center. Coach Haith had many kind words to say, and we look forward to partnering with him again!

Earlier today, Miss Missouri came to the Clubhouse to speak to club members about never giving up on their dreams. She also performed her talent – singing – for the kids, and let them try on her crown!
